well it seems that i have all but given up on the blogging platform. i thought it was cool when i first got into it about 6-8 months ago, but i just dont have the time to put into the blogging community and network with all the awesome peoples i found out there. i wish i could, but its just too hard for an amateur to monetize a blog and make it profitable. so i’ll just keep this going without a posting schedule, and add a few random thoughts here and there as i remember it. and then i’ll tweet it out, so you guys can still keep track of me that way. tell a friend too, i could always do with a few more Twitter followers. find my Twitter link over there on the right —>
anyways, here’s a little anecdote i recently shared with some of my forum friends.
hope you enjoy.

so did i ever tell you guys about my spider story? :hmmm: …
this happened when i was in 4th grade. got up at 7 in the morning to get ready for school, which started at 8. had breakfast, brushed my teeth, changed, etc. this was in the fall/winter because i remember it being dark still. so 7:30 comes around and i sit on the couch in the dark living room to watch some Jetsons before i leave. the lights are off and the curtains are still shut, its just me and the glow of my cartoons. i like Astro. i guess i have a thing for talking dogs. anyways, i see this vertical line on the tv screen, which was weird. i try to focus for a better look, and it turns out its not on the screen it was actually a thread of spider silk coming down from the ceiling. and it wasnt even near the tv. it was right in front of me. so i look lower and the damn spider is actually at the end of it going straight down towards my lap. ahhh fuck. whatever, i wasnt really afraid of spiders. so i grab up above at the silk so i can transport the spider to the sink, but when i pick it up, the spider is gone. wth. so i stand up and try to shake my clothes off in case he jumped on me and thats when i feel i sharp sting on my crotch! :faint: WTF?!?! apparently i had not zipped up my zipper when i had gotten dressed earlier and the fucking spider got its way into my tighty whiteys and bit me on the crotch!!! holy shit did that hurt like fuck. i ran to the bathroom and took all my clothes off to shake out, but there was no spider to be found. i then went to inspect the area, and sure as shit, the fucking spider bit me. lucky thing it didnt catch me on the wang though. it was just above.
so yep. i got molested by a spider that ran away and was never to be seen afterwards. and i had to walk to school that morning. do you know how uncomfortable it is to walk to school with a spider bite on your crotch? yeah, it kinda sucks. i think i had a big ol’ bite mark for a week after that. the kind that turns into like a big boil. ewwwww. and of course i didnt tell any one coz i didnt want anybody to have to go lookin at it. just had to walk very carefully for a good long while. :/
suffice to say, i hated spiders for a very long time after that.

wow, i didnt even realize its been a full 7 days since my last post! i know i promised 2 updates per week at the beginning of the year, and already i’ve dropped the ball man am i slacking.
well hopefully i can get back on track soon. theres some blog stuff i really need to take care of still. and a bunch of ad networks i need to look into. but the good news is that i have a few blog posts i’ve jotted down as drafts, so i at least have a few things that i’ve been meaning to talk about. just havent had the time to fully flesh them out.
its been a busy week. i got that laptop (as mentioned in the previous post) all set up and then had to help said laptop owner get moved into her dorm at UC Berkeley. and after helping lug laundry bags and school supplies up to the room, i got the WLAN all set up and secured. so she should be all set. i gotta say i’m pretty impressed with that Toshiba Satellite. its pretty nice computer. very light compared to my 3+ year old HP Pavilion. i think the built-in webcam could be a little bit better, but overall, its a nice piece of hardware. i’ll go head and recomend it to anyone, unless you need a really beefy video card. which of course you’ll be hard pressed to find in any moderately priced laptop.
anyways, back to Berkeley. i didnt get to go touring the campus, but the area around it has such a typical college town vibe. loads of little shops up and down the streets, greek row right around the corner, and a mix of hippy townies and droves of students dressed in Cal blue & gold. maybe i’ll go have a better look around one of these weekends.
Go Bears. yay.

if you’ve read my previous post, you’ll know that i was having problems with spam comments and that i was having trouble activating my Akismet plugin. all is well now. between last night and the time i got it fixed this morning, i had an additional 30 spam comments in my queue. and since then, i haven’t had one yet.
so for those of you having the annoyance of random spambots flooding your comment approval queue, do yourself a favor and get your Akismet plugin activated.

i’ve been out of town for the New Years holiday, and tonight when i logged in, i had over 90 spam comments posted to various entries of the blog! 90! now while everybody hates spam and it is annoying, it could also be a mark of increased traffic to your site. maybe not the right kind of traffic that youre hoping for, but its still traffic none the less. this means google and other search engines has been indexing your site, and peole have been finding it. which is a good thing. and if spammers have been finding your site, then hopefully a few actual real people have been finding it too.
now the downside to these 90 spam comments that i’ve had to deal with tonight is that i’ve had to go through my list of pending comments and sift the legit comments out of the weeds. luckily, WordPress self-hosted blogs have Akismet, a standard plugin that helps filter out spam comments. unfortunately for me though, i tried to set up my Akismet details only to find out that there seems to be a problem with my WordPress.com account. but i’ve already filled out a WordPress.com tech support form, so hopefully i’ll get my problem sorted in the next day or two.
back to the point… if you’re just starting out blogging, you’ll probably be discouraged that no one has visited your site yet. then one day you’ll get an unexpected reply to one of your posts, and next thing you know, you’ll be the target of the scourge of the internet, the dreaded spambots! when that happens, don’t be so quick to panic. it just might be a sign that the internet is starting to take notice of your site. and that’s a good thing! so use that as encouragement to crank out the content and get linked to as many sites as possible that can net you some positive exposure.
happy blogging

Happy New Year and welcome to 2009! :champagne:
for the few of you who have been here before in the past month, welcome back! and for those of you who are new here, feel free to stop by any time! so… what exactly is Scooby’s World? well, it’s the newly constructed home of me, ScoobySnacks, here in this giant interweb of ours. it’s my own little corner of the blogosphere where i’ll be talking about all kinds of random stuff that i find interesting. now i realize this may not be a very smart strategy to begin with, but who’s to say a website needs to focus on one subject to be successful? and if eventually i find i niche to corner the market in, then so be it. but until then, ScoobysWorld.com will be your one-stop-shop for all things balanced between your nerdy cyber world and your AFK offline life. ^_^
we’re going to start off slow and steady here, and i’m aiming to fill at least 2 new entries a week to begin with. but don’t be surprised if down the line i’m in randomly talkative mood and you see dozen fresh posts in a day!
now i know that this place isn’t completely polished and in full working order yet, but do please feel free to check back often. its gonna be a learning process for me too. so maybe once i’ve taught myself the ropes, i’ll let you in on all the little tips, tricks, and tweaks i’ve leared about the ins and outs of blogging.
so a little bit about me: my name is ScoobySnacks. i’ve been traveling the internet for quite some time now and have seen many things. but theres always more to see and more to learn. i’m a foodie, i’m a nerd, i’m a gamer, i’m philosopher, i’m a student of the world. i’ll share my sacred cooking tips, my astonishing insights, my ponderings of unimportant things, the musings of life, and the many facets of geekery, movies, music, television, gadetry, techno l33tness, pro wrestling madness, failed backyard gardening, travels to Hawaii, roadtrips around California, cheap wines, restaurant reviews, cartoons from the 80’s, the finer points of internet marketing and making money online, how to peice together a new PC, the conversion of a Mac hater into an iPod fanboy, tasty pineapples … and hell pretty much everything in between and anything else that floats my fancy.
so let’s kick of the new year amongst friends! make your self at home! have a look around and leave your mark where ever you please. and tell your friends to do the same. ScoobysWorld.com is now open 24 hours for your enjoyment! :shiny:
 .dj.
have a prosperous 2009!
